Google Ads: Advertiser identity verification

Google asks advertisers to verify their identity. There’s usually a deadline attached, so it’s worth doing promptly — but it’s a straightforward set of steps.

Complete advertiser verification

…often with a notice that your account will be paused if you don’t verify by the deadline (commonly 30 days).

This is Google’s advertiser identity verification — confirming who is behind the ads. It’s separate from verifying what your business does.

  • Google’s transparency programme requires it for more and more advertisers.
  • Or a risk signal / your industry triggered it.
  1. Go to Google AdsAdminAccount status / the verification notice (ads.google.com/aw/policy/account).
  2. Answer the questions about your organisation.
  3. Submit the requested proof — typically a government ID, phone verification, and confirming your payment method. Details must match your payments profile.
  4. Submit before the deadline; Google usually reviews within a few business days.

Your account shows as verified and stays active (no pause).
